Preparing For "Back to School"

2:45 PM

Hello!

Next week, {most of} us college kids head back to the classroom for the spring semester! If you're like me you've had over a month off of school and have gotten used to the relaxation of winter break. If you're like me you're also preparing for a busy semester. From classes {three in person, two online} to blogging to Textbroker {my little job}, to keeping the apartment clean {and organizing it}; this semester is going to be rough.

Here are some tips to get you ready for "Back to School"

One | Start Going to Bed Earlier: During Winter Break, many like to stay up late either partying or watching Netflix. Some of you will have 9AM classes which requires to you get up before noon. This week, figure out what time you need to get up and start to prepare for that by going to bed earlier each night. Do it in slow increments throughout the week because if you try to make the leap you might not fall asleep {I've tried}.

Two | Get Your Materials Together: There are some professors {especially in the upper division classes} that like to jump right into the material on the first day. You don't want to be that student that doesn't have their stuff together. I understand textbook-wise where you don't want to spend money on a book you won't use {I had a class like that, but that's a different story}. If you're like me and really want to get ahead and don't want to wait to buy a book from the bookstore, you can always go to www.ratemyprofessors.com {also a good way to find professors/classes for next semester} and see what other students have said about that class and the textbook.

Three | Don't Procrastinate: I'm the type of person who will say "if I don't think about it or prepare for it, it won't happen". Well no matter what you do, that day will come whether or not you're ready for it. So my advice is to plan for it! I have two planners {yes, TWO. One is strictly for school/homework and the other is for blogging/life} and plan to use them both. Although writing things down won't force you to act on them, doing this will help prevent you from pushing it out of your mind

Four | Get Excited: Yes I just said get excited about school. College is not like high school, you can pick what classes you want out of a wider variety of choices. If you were on top of your class picking, you should have classes that seem interesting to YOU and that should make you excited to go to school! Even though it will be hard, look at the bright side; you're in college learning something you want to learn about and you're taking classes that you've picked on your own!

Five | Relax: This may seem like a lot to do, but don't over-think it. Don't forget to give yourself time to relax, like on the weekend. Getting ready for school shouldn't be more stressful than school itself. Make sure you get ready for the upcoming semester but also enjoy your last few days off with your family and friends!

Have a successful semester!
