College Tips: Finals

9:00 AM

I can't believe that it is finals week {for me} already! I feel like it has been forever since I've done a College Tips post, but here it is!

If you're anything like me, you're probably freaking out already over finals {and have been for awhile now} but that is completely okay! Finals are stressful, and there is nothing wrong with admitting it, but I want to make it easier for you!

Sleep | Your brain needs sleep to be able to retain and then recall the information that you are cramming into it the night before the exam. If you don't get enough sleep, it will be as if you didn't even study for the exam at all, and you definitely don't want that. These exams are important but so is your body and to have your body do what you need it to do, you need to give it what it needs to do it.

Take Study Breaks | You need to give yourself breaks when you study. After continuous studying, you just can't seem to focus anymore, so take a break! When you return you will feel refreshed and also feel like you're looking at it with a fresh set of eyes. Make sure you time your study break and that when it is time to get back to studying, you get back to work.

Keep Study Space Organized | I remember hearing this a long time ago and I know I feel this way when studying. If your study space {or bedroom, apartment, etc} is disorganized and messy, then you will not be able to study effectively. It's basically like your brain is disorganized as well. You need to keep your study space and the room you are studying in organized otherwise you won't be able to focus on your studying.

Break Up Classes | Don't try to study for every class at the same time! However don't study for one class all day! Set up certain periods of study time and only study that one class for that period. Then take your study break and when you return, study for another class. I've tried studying for one class all day and after awhile you just can't stand to look at that subject anymore. Don't do that to yourself!

Don't get too hard on yourself! If you do the best that you physically can at the time, that is all anyone can ask for. You're only human, remember that. Good luck on your finals this semester! May your grades be ever in your favor!

  5. Great tips! I think the breaking up classes tip is important because sometimes I would just study all day for one final and then completely have to cram for my next finals.

  7. Totally agree with all of these! Honestly, I don't know how people pull all nighters. I break up my stuff during the day and set specific times to study, so that I don't have to stay up all night. Can't take a huge test on no sleep!
