What's Popular?

12:00 PM

Many things have been going viral on the internet and I figured I'd share some of my favorite ones with you!

Weather Map Goes Crazy

So I watch Fox 10 Phoenix every morning and usually Cory is out eating food, visiting schools, and sometimes eat a lot of food! Well he's also does the weather {at noon} when he's not eating around Phoenix. I {sadly} didn't see this live BUT I saw this video and though it was the best thing ever! It has gone viral and I'm so glad that everyone gets to see the wit that we here in Phoenix love about Cory McCloskey!

Pilot Locked Out

As dangerous this is, I found it a little humerous. A pilot being locked out of the cockpit is abnormal but the plane made a safe emergency landing. The door was jammed so the captain couldn't get back in! When inspected the door was jammed by {get this} a piece of string!

New Disney Princess

Well it looks like a new princess will be added to the bunch! Her full title is Her Royal Highness Princess Elena of Avalor {what a title!}. I personally think it's great Disney is adding a Latina princess; it's wonderful that young Latina girls will have a princess that looks like them. However I've also seen backlash about it. Mostly that there isn't royalty in Latin America nowadays {and that it seems like it's more modern and not about mesoamerica}. Regardless, I think it's great!

Boston Marathon Winner Scandal

Well it seems to be that the woman who took us all by storm after winning the Boston Marathon back to back and setting the course record in 2014 will be banned from said marathon. She'll probably also have to forfeit her 2014 titles {Chicago and Boston Marathon winner}, and give back the $150,000 for winning and $25,000 for setting the record. I find this so sad; many people work so hard without drugs to achieve their goals. But that's all I have to say on that.

What are some popular things you've seen around the web?!

January Resolutions Update

9:00 AM

January is already over so it's time for my first update on my 2015 resolutions {see here}.

One | Spring 2015 Dean's List: Well the semester only began almost three weeks ago and I haven't had much-graded work so as of right now none of my grades have been reported. I have been working on getting assignments done and doing required readings so I think I'm on my way!

30 Day Ab Challenge Update!

1:30 PM

Well, here I am; I'm halfway through the 30 Day Ab Challenge! {Click here for a refresher!} Thankfully today is a rest day!

It's been rough; my abs hurt often but I'm very proud that I've stuck through this!

So far I've only made one slight modification. This past Thursday I wasn't feeling the ab exercises so I decided to take the day off that was meant for Friday on Thursday. As it shows in the original post; it is an escalating challenge; the number of things I have to do increases daily. Other than that, I have stuck with this challenge!

As of right now, I have to be careful with this challenge. With trying to eat at home, I've been eating less also and last night Matt noticed that I might be getting too thin. Apparently it looked alarming last night. So I may or may not pick back up tomorrow {I probably will}. We will see how it goes!

I can't wait to show you the final results when I finish this challenge!

Who is your outfit inspired by and why did you pick them?
My outfit is inspired by THE Queen B, of course! I picked Blair because I've always loved her style! She's not afraid to wear whatever she wants! She's a style queen! I mean, come on; just look at her!

Favorite Gossip Girl Moment?
My favorite Gossip Girl moment...hmmm. I'm going to have to say the Chuck and Blair wedding at the Met. Here's why. When I first started watching Gossip Girl I had heard that they get married {but I didn't know when!} so I was waiting throughout the ENTIRE series waiting for this wedding. As I was nearing the end I said to myself "don't tell me it's the last frickin episode" and it was! Anyway, it's also my favorite because they FINALLY made it through all of the crap they went through. I've always loved them together and to see them finally make it and get married was wonderful. I also loved the build up, everyone getting ready and getting to the Met. Plus Blair looked GORGEOUS!

I've loved Gossip Girl since I dove into the series on Netflix. I'm so happy that I got to participate in this linkup! Thank you, again, lovely ladies for hosting this linkup!

Who's you're favorite Gossip Girl character?!

You know you love me, XO XO, Gossip Girl!

Miss Universe 2014

11:00 PM

Miss Universe is one of the most well-known international pageants. This year, Paulina Vega of Columbia won! She is Miss Universe 2014!

I love watching pageants {it always makes me want to compete in one, I really do want to compete}. I usually watch Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, and Miss Universe {because they are always televised}. I tried keeping up with Miss World this year but it was in London so it was hard to keep up with it. Last year Matt and I watched Miss Universe together {he's definitely a keeper} and watched Olivia Culpo {Miss USA 2012} pass on her crown to Gabriella Isler {who seems like a sweetheart}.

This year, Nia Sanchez represented the United States {I remember watching her win. When she was top 5, I was pulling for her!} She placed first runner up! She was so close! She killed it this year but alas the judges chose Miss Columbia!

One thing that shocked me was that Miss Jamaica placed fourth runner up {last}. Now I had her top two or three but the judges didn't. But that isn't all; apparently after the pageant half of the contestants gathered around Miss Jamaica to cheer her up. Now, I understand her being upset about placement but I don't think it is right for the girls to shut out the new Miss Universe like that. I'm sure we'll hear more about this in the coming days.

Did you watch Miss Universe? What do you think?!

The Liebster Award

2:30 PM

When I was doing my nightly ab workouts, I had checked my email in between exercises and saw that Mikkaela of The Southwestern Prepster {and a fellow Sun Devil!} had commented on one of my posts and she said that she had nominated me for The Liebster Award! I was very honored to be one of the ten she had chosen for this award!

{image source}

The Liebster Award is an award given to bloggers, from bloggers to the discovery of new bloggers with less than 200 followers. It also promotes communication between said bloggers. I am supposed to answer the 11 questions given to my from the person who nominated me. Then I nominate 10 more bloggers to pass on this lovely award to! So, without further a-do:

How did you decide on the title of your blog?
Since coming to Arizona State, I've fallen in love. Since it was something I was starting this blog in Arizona I wanted the name to incorporate it. It was meant to show my evolution of style as well and BOOM! I had my name!

What made you decide to start your blog?
It was right after the Tahoe trip I went on; the excitement was over and I was heading back to school in a month. I had finished my freshman year of college and felt very empty. I didn't have softball or theater like in high school and I wanted something to give me the enjoyment and fulfillment that my extra-curriculars did. So in short, I was very sad and felt insignificant. Matt and i had also started our foodie blog, and i wanted to have one of my own just for me. Thus, The Arizona Prepster was born.

What is your Starbucks order?
Vanilla Bean Frappuccino sometimes with chips, sometimes without!

Where is your favorite place to shop?
I love Macy's and Target! Target has really nice clothes but they're easier on the price. Macy's has so many options for clothing and, although they may be more pricey, they're definitely worth the price. I also love J.Crew and J.Crew Factory! However, out of those three; Macy's is where I shop the most! They have a sale every other weekend {at least it feels like it} and they ave good every day value brands!

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
If I could travel anywhere, it would be Europe. Once you fly into Europe, it's easy {and inexpensive} to hop on a train to another European country! I've always wanted to travel to Europe {especially Italy}. I would also want to travel to Hong Kong and Dubai and some other non-European countries. I just really want to travel the world.

What is your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure? Do I have to name one? Because I won't, I'm going to name a few. Netflix is definitely one. When Matt's at work I love watching Gossip Girl or other series' that aren't on TV anymore. Another one is court shows. I love watching Divorce Court, Judge Judy and People's Court!

Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Honestly, I have no idea. I'm still not sure what I want to do with my life. I'll {hopefully} be blogging still, maybe I'll be married, maybe I'll be going for a Masters. All I know is I'll be doing what I want to be doing and living life to the fullest; making sure I'm happy every day.

What is your fav
orite song at the moment?
I never have one favorite song; I have many. Some of them are: Hozier's Take Me to Church, Maroon 5's Sugar {if you haven't watched the music video then check it out!}, Imagine Dragons' Round and Round, and Awolnation's Sail and Thiskidsnotalright {yes that's actually how it's titled}. These are only some of my favorite songs at the moment; I have more but that would probably take up too much of your time to go through them all.

What is one piece of advice you would give to other new bloggers?
It is not easy peezy lemon squeezy like everyone makes it seem; it really isn't. As I've learned it takes a lot of thought and effort. However one piece of advice I have is that if you're passionate about it and you like it then do it! But once it becomes more of a hassle than an enjoyment; you may need to take a hiatus and clear your mind. You should be excited to go blog and want to do that instead of homework {but still do your homework}. It should be fun, not strenuous.

Where do you see your blog going in the next year?
I'm not really sure where I see it going. I hope it goes up {obviously} and continues to be successful. I love blogging so I'm sure it won't be going anywhere anytime soon! But I hope to participate in collabs and linkups with some lovely bloggers.

Where does your blog inspiration come from?
One of the first blogs I read was Carly Heitlinger's The College Prepster so she was my first inspiration. Then as I continued blogging I found Michaela of The Monogrammed Midwesterner {tagged below} and she became another one of my major inspirations!

So that's some little facts about me! I hope you enjoyed it! Here are my 10 lovely bloggers:

Weekend Scramble

9:00 AM

Today, many people are getting ready to watch the Pro Bowl and also get their plans ready for next Sunday's Super Bowl {held in my state of Arizona!}. However today, I am scrambling to clean and organize the apartment and here's why:

Tomorrow, Matt's parents are coming here to Arizona for the Pro Bowl {Matt got them tickets for Christmas}. Since this will be their first time visiting here, they will {obviously} want to see the apartment. I have been constantly cleaning the carpets and vacuuming since Gary came and went earlier this month so it isn't too much of a scramble. The thing that really need to get done is taking out all of the trash and boxes {it isn't much but Matt takes out the food trash} and clean the dishes {so much fun}. A lot of the scramble {for me} is just also making sure that everything is neat and looks presentable.

I'm very particular when it comes to things being in their place and everything looking spotless and put together. Hopefully I will be able to get it all done with all of the homework that I have to do over the weekend as well. Wish me luck!

What are you weekend plans?

Friday Favorites

11:30 AM

This week was only a three day school week for me, which was really interesting. With Matt working at Piedmont, and me having only one class a day {Oh my ENG class is now every other Wednesday at 7PM} I get very confused with the days {and the ENG class will only make it worse}. Anyway, here are my Friday Favorites!

One | Jingles: On Wednesday I posted the mini photoshoot I did with our cat Jingles {see here} and she is definitely one of the best things that have happened since I came to Arizona. We love Jingles so much, she is so cute and just a joy to have around the apartment. She loves to sleep on the bed and cuddle up with us.

Isn't she just gorgeous?

Two | Her Campus: Her Campus is an online college magazine for women. They talk about anything and everything for the everyday collegiette! Many college campuses {including Arizona State} have their own chapters that include their own website. I contacted ASU's chapter corespondent and they said when the new Editor-in-Chiefs learn the ropes they'll get back to me on it! So, we'll see! Check out Her Campus here!

They also have a Blogger Network for bloggers that you can apply for {which I have, I can't wait to hear back}. Learn more about the Blogger Network here!

Three | Ace and Ivy: A couple of days ago, Ace and Ivy popped up in my inbox and on my timeline with Valentine's Day necklaces for the lovely ladies of your family. There are seven necklaces and one is a BFF necklace! They're $48.00, except for the BFF necklace {it's $68.00}. Check out some of them below!

You can find these necklaces here!

What are some of you Friday Favorites?!

Movie Review: Paddington

7:30 PM

When Matt and I went to see a movie a couple of months ago, the trailer for Paddington came on to the screen. Now I've loved Paddington since I was a baby; I still have a Paddington bear! {I'm on my second one, my first one went inexplicably missing years ago so Matt got me another one before I left for ASU. Then, me being me, I left him at home.} Also, my brother has a matching one.

Okay, back to this: so when the movie trailer came up on the screen I turned to Matt and said "we will be seeing this". It came out January 16th, 2015 and we got to see it tonight!

Okay so here is my little review {and don't worry, I won't spoil the movie for you!}:

The movie was so adorable! It first went through the story of the explorer visiting Peru in the past and then went to the present day story. The beginning started off sad; something tragic happened which is why he then goes to London. Anyway, it ends happily {of course} and it was so cute to see the story, family, and Paddington progress throughout the movie. The ending was great and the movie overall was wonderful. There is definitely some funny moments to balance with the sad ones. There were children when we went to watch it; and they clearly loved it. You should definitely see it if you want to see an adorable movie!

If you've seen Paddington, did you like it? If you haven't, what movies have you seen?

Picture Perfect Cat

9:00 AM

Yesterday I posted an outfit post that featured pictures taken by yours truly. I did it all while Matt was at work and I was very proud of myself. Doing this also made me realize how much I miss photography! So I decided that while Jingles was outside; I would take pictures of her when she was wandering around in the pool area.

Here are the shots:

Isn't she just a natural? The camera loves her and she loves it rolling around! Anyway, it was a lot of fun taking pictures of her rolling around; hopefully I'll do it again soon! {like tomorrow}

Simple College Class Outfit

4:00 PM

Happy Tuesday!

The long weekend is over {sigh} but having only one class a day makes it a bit easier. This is the blazer I was talking about here and I've been waiting to wear it and today I decided I was going to wear it to class and I LOVE it! Check it out!

Target Blazer {Sold out; similar here} | Wet Seal Scoop Tee {old, similar here and here} | Denizen Skinny Jeans | Gray Booties {similar here and here}

So how did I do taking these pictures by myself?! Now that I realized Matt has his tripod here; I can take these pictures myself more often!

Reminder: Monday January 26th is the Gossip Girl Linkup! It's almost here! Check out the details here.

What's your simple class outfit?
