August Resolutions Update

9:00 AM

Happy Monday!

It's the end of August and that means that it's time for my August resolutions update!

One | Fall 2015 Dean's List: So, it's official! I got the email saying that I was put on the Spring 2015 Dean's List earlier this month! I decided to change this to Fall 2015 because I clearly didn't think it through that I would be taking two semesters in 2015 {hello, Earth to Lauren?}.

August 2015 Favorites

9:00 AM

It feels like it's been forever since I published a post! {I mean, four days is forever right?} I didn't get to post on Wednesday because this week I've been recovering from an ER visit last Sunday, and still going to school. So now I'm just getting back into the swing of things.

So, here are this month's favorites!

Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless

I love this foundation, it is my go-to foundation {I don't have that many but still}. It is lightweight and doesn't settle into your fine lines! Also, it is a matte finish, so it is for more oily skin, plus it is drugstore!

Paul Mitchell Conditioner

I've used both the leave-in and the detangling conditioner and I love both! Currently, I'm using the leave-in conditioner and it really works well with my hair!

Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up Highlighter

Talk about highlight on fleek! This highlighter is the best one that I have used! The one I have is the travel size so it doesn't have the little smudger {I just use my finger} but it still works the same. It easily blends on my makeup and leaves a nice glow on the skin.

Trend Tribe Aphrodite Statement Necklace

From Summer Stripes + Statement Necklace
Yes, this is the same necklace from earlier this month! I love it so much, it isn't too big or too small! Plus, it goes with many colors so it doesn't limit me to certain outfit pieces!

I hope you enjoyed this month's favorites! What are some of your favorites from this month?

Five Reason Why You Should Attend Your School's Football Games

9:00 AM

School is starting and that means so is college football! {September 3rd everyone!!} For most colleges, many say football is a big part of the "college experience" and I would have to agree. I grew up watching college football, so it already was a big part of my life.

So once I came to ASU, I knew I had to go to as many games as I could. I have to say, even if you don't want to go every single year, you have to go to your home games at least one season, and here's why:

Follow Me Back to School!

9:00 AM

Yesterday was my first day of my junior year at ASU! How exciting is that? Three of my five in person classes met today {thankfully my afternoon lab doesn't meet until next Thursday} and they were back-to-back-to-back. I didn't think how I would feel after having three classes in a row one after another, but I'm sure it will work out. {I'll just have to remember to bring snacks}. I have classes Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 1:15pm {whoa} and on Thursday I have lab from 3:15pm to 6pm {ugh}.

I missed my campus over the summer, as classes were approaching I was happy that I was going to be back on campus. It's such a cute and small {and normally quiet} campus. Also, there is just so much green, it's like you forget you're in the desert {okay, that's a stretch}. My first day went very well though, it seemed like it went by pretty quickly, I just hope having 15 minutes in between each class will be enough to switch gears.

I'm excited to see how this semester goes, my classes seem interesting {as interesting as a syllabus could tell you} but I'm sure I will enjoy the classes. A funny story, a girl from my hometown transferred to ASU this semester and is in one of my classes. Most people who transfer to ASU transfer to the main Tempe campus and that's where I thought she transferred to. Low and behold she walks in the door and is in my class! Funny how it works out like that!

Six Things to Remember on Your First Day

9:00 AM

The first day of class can be stressful, mainly because you're thinking about how many projects/assignments there are as you read through your syllabus.

One | Write it All Down: All of it, everything! Seriously, if you write it down now, you won't forget to later and you'll have it all in front of you as the semester goes on. You will thank yourself as the semester goes on {especially if you accidentally lose that syllabus}

Day Designer x Blue Sky Planner Review

9:00 AM

If you haven't heard {I don't know how you wouldn't have by now} Day Designer and Blue Sky Planners have teamed up to bring you an awesome twist of the Day Designer. I've had my eye on the Day Designer for awhile, but I just can't justify the price. So, when I saw they were coming out with a collaboration that would be sold in Target, I made sure I got my hands on one.

The Day Designer for Blue Sky Planners include a two page monthly spread so you can plan out all of your big events and have them all in one place! There is also a little column for you called "Notes and To-Do" for you to mark down monthly to-do's. Each month is tabbed for easy access!

The reason I wanted a Day Designer is mostly because it has a section for To-Do's {which is the main reason why I need a planner} so when I saw that the collaboration planner would have a To-Do area for each day, I was ecstatic {and thoroughly convinced that I wuod need it}

So my planner is the gold striped planner. I did want the black striped planner because the inside was pink instead of blue and I love tat color combo. My Target only had this one so I will live with this one. One complaint I have with it though is that the gold foil is already rubbing off on the edge and wear and tear {even light} is very noticeable. So make sure you factor that in before you decide to buy this planner.

Quick side note, I read somewhere that they are going to do this same collaboration next year and that they are in the midst of planning it right now! So if you miss out this year {don't}, you will be able to get in on the action next year!

Are you going to buy the Day Designer for Blue Sky, or have you already? I want to know what YOU think about it!

Career

How to Deal with Being The Youngest Coworker

9:00 AM

I am 19 years old working with many men and women at least five (minimum) to decades older than me, and it's actually pretty intimidating. These people have been doing their jobs for many years and here I am; I have only been on the job for two months. It can get pretty frustrating between all of the "you're such a baby" comments to "why did you choose this job" or for me "I thought you were 16". Honestly, you just have to take those comments in stride and know that you're not the first nor the last person to come in at a young age {whether it's at your job or any other job}. Laugh along and know that this will not go on forever.

Sometimes, your age can benefit you more than you realize. At my job, we have to learn a completely new system before October 17; well since I'm in college and always learning/planning/in that frame of mind, it was easier for me to take in what was being taught during the training class. In turn, I helped my other coworkers when they had questions and issues.

Another thing to keep in mind of, it may be hard for some of your coworkers to take you seriously. Matt and I have both experienced this issue {yes, it does happen whether we want to believe it or not}. Do not take it personally, it's not your fault that you were born in a certain year and it's not your fault that some people can't look past age. That's just how the world works, and sometimes it really does suck. All you can do is do your best and prove yourself, eventually people will look at your merit as opposed to your age.

One thing I can suggest is make friends with your coworkers, no matter how much older they are. I'm not saying to go out to the bar or something, because you both {most likely} have different lifestyles and enjoy different things. However, that doesn't mean that in the office or in the breakroom you can't join in the conversation and get to know them. I enjoy talking with my coworkers and getting to know them, and in return have them get to know me.

I don't mind being the youngest, I do have coworkers close to my age but most are older. Like I said, you won't be the youngest forever and you have to start somewhere!

Madeline's Market Banana Berry Bath Bomb

9:00 AM

Madeline's Market is a Etsy shop that sells bath bombs for $3.00! That is a fantastic deal! There are so many scents and shapes and she also does custom orders! I ordered a four bomb sample pack and it had a bath bomb for each season! She also gave me two freebies, a Banana Berry bath bomb and some Cotton Candy bath powder! {I've never used bath powder so we'll see how that goes!

So, I used the Banana Berry bath bomb and it had a very subtle scent. It was hard for me to determine what it was by just smelling the bath bomb. {When I smelled others, they were more prevalent. It just depends on the scent}. As I was in the tub, the scent became a bit stronger, and it was very relaxing! I have only used one other bath bomb previously {from a shop in Tahoe} so I was very excited to try another! I was very pleased!

So, if you are looking for bath bombs at a very reasonable price, I highly suggest checking out Madeline's Market! Do you like bath bombs? Have you ever heard of bath bombs before today?

Summer Stripes + Statement Necklace

9:00 AM

I love navy and white stripes {and stripes in general}! I have about three navy and white stripe clothing items. If you follow my Instagram, you'll know this is the same dress I wore to lunch in Tahoe! It's from H&M and we had gotten it on sale during their big summer sale {literally right before we left}. I can't believe I hadn't shopped at H&M before June, it's very reasonably priced and they have so many cute clothes. {Honestly, I always thought they were expensive, oops}. Also, H&M is also where I got this striped dress!

Motivational Monday #8

9:00 AM

Can you believe it's the first Monday of August? August! This year has literally flown by! Anyway, since it's the first Monday of August, that means that it's time for the eighth Motivational Monday of 2015!

August is commonly known as the back-to-school month {and rightfully so}, so this month's motivation is going to be about getting ready to head back to school!

One thing that many people have issues with is getting up and finding the motivation to get ready and get their supplies for back to school. Many people just want to push it off until the very, very last minute. I believe that if you do that, you are setting yourself up for an unsuccessful year. How can you expect to start your year off well when you are already procrastinating? You can't {or you shouldn't}.
