Need Branding For Your Blog?

How I’m Using Tailwind to Grow My Pinterest

Hey there! Today I wanted to talk about blogging and Pinterest. Pinterest is one of my favorite platforms right now, and it has been for a while. If you’ve seen in my past couple of blog traffic reports, then you would have seen that I’ve been using Tailwind to help me grow my Pinterest and drive traffic to my blog.

So what is Tailwind? Tailwind is a Visual Marketing Suite, or what most people generally refer it as, a pin scheduler. Tailwind is a paid service, however, it does offer a free trial of 100 pins to see if Tailwind is something that you think would benefit you. I’m on their Plus plan and pay monthly, which is $15/month. On this plan if you pay monthly you get 400 pins, if you pay annually, then you get unlimited. However, I am okay with where I am with the monthly payment. You can view more details on their pricing page. You can sign up for Tailwind with my referral link here.

There are two things that I use Tailwind for:

  • Scheduling Pins
  • Tailwind Tribes

First, I’m going to talk about scheduling pins. Once you connect your Pinterest account, you can create a schedule of your pins. I let Tailwind use my account to find the times that people interact with my pins the most. Then, you can start adding pins to schedule right from your Pinterest feed and when it’s time Tailwind will publish those pins in the boards that you selected. To make scheduling to certain boards easier, you can use their Boards List feature to group similar boards together so you don’t have to go through your list if you have a lot of similar boards.

Second, I use Tailwind Tribes to help spread my Pins and share them with other bloggers so they can share them. Tribes are groups of pinners that put their pins in a collective group and then you schedule their content to pin to your account and they do the same with yours. This allows you to get your pins shared to a wider audience that you might not have been able to do with “live-pinning”.

Most tribes right now are join-by-request only. Now that means they can publish their tribe link and you can request there, or you can email the admin of the tribe and they will send you an invite. Make sure you read the rules for that tribe. Usually, they require reciprocal pinning and no adult content. Every tribe different! They can kick you out if you’re not following the rules.

Tribes is my favorite part about Tailwind. Every time I publish a new blog post I share it to the relevant tribes and then usually go back to my Pinterest feed and start scheduling more pins. In each tribe, you can see how many shares and repins you have from that specific tribe.

That is how I’m using Tailwind to grow my Pinterest. From what I have seen in this month’s statistics, it seems to be helping getting my pins seen. I do have look and see how many of those result into click-throughs to my site, because that is what it’s about.

I’ve also started my own Tailwind Tribe, College Lifestyle Bloggers. It is a college and twenty-something lifestyle tribe {so if you’ve graduated, you can still join!}. Click the tribe name and that will take you to the request to join!

Have you used Tailwind before?! Let me know in the comments!
