Need Branding For Your Blog?

What I’ve Learned From The Consistent Canva Course

*I was chosen to be a beta tester for Lindsey’s e-course “Consistent Canva” course. I took this course beginning to end and all opinions are 100% my own. This post will be updated as new information about the course becomes available. As of right now, you can sign up for early notification and early bird pricing which I 100% recommend!

Hey hey!

Today, I wanted to share with you why I believe every blogger should take the Consistent Canva e-course from Lindsey of Hazel Haven! So, Canva is a free design software, hosted on canva.com so there is no program for you to download. It is based in Australia {which is something I always forget} and has an amazing team behind them. Although Canva is free, which is all you need for this course, there is also Canva for Work, which is what I use. The price for Canva for Work is $9.95/month paid annually or $12.95/month paid monthly. I love Canva, I even wrote about why you should be using Canva for your blog post graphics. Now, I want to share why you need to take this course!

So, I took the Consistent Canva course over the course of a month or so. This is the first course I’ve found for Canva, so I was really excited to see what we were going to be learning about. Her course is hosted on Teachable, and we were part of a Facebook group {the group was for the beta testers. I think she is going to have one for the actual course as well}. All of the modules included a worksheet, a video, and a homework assignment for us to practice what we had learned. The homework assignments were “due” per se, we did have to post our homework in the group, but there was no due date for them. We also had live Q + A videos that we could attend or we could watch after the fact in the course, which is what I had to do because the times offered never aligned with my schedule.

Now, I can’t really share the specifics of what I learned, because I don’t want to give away too much about her course. However, I want to share what I learned about myself, my brand, and Canva through her course. When I began the course, I had just finished my rebrand, so I used that as my starting off point for all of the lessons. Now, here is probably where I faulted with the rebrand, I never did a style guide. I tried the mood board but I didn’t like it. So, when I had to do it in this course, I was pretty excited. This was my finished product.

So, I was pretty happy with it. We then went into designing actual templates. In this, we learned how to use a FREE premade Canva template and customize it {which I hadn’t thought of doing because honestly, I didn’t think it would look professional enough} and then creating our own from scratch {which is what I already do}. Here is what I came up with for my premade templates.

I haven’t really used the top one, but I use the bottom one on Pinterest all of the time. I have a template with each of my brand colors as the color on the bottom and change it according to the blog post graphic. So this one will have a Cobalt color on the bottom as well. Like I said, before this course, I rarely used to look at the premade blog graphic images from Canva, because I thought that they would not be professional enough. However, this course has shown me otherwise.

This course really has taught me that Canva has so much to offer, especially with their premade templates. Their premade templates make it incredibly easy to make my graphics. When I first made my graphics, I made them in Photoshop and to be honest, they SUCKED. Then I found Canva and started to improve but looking back, they were incredibly lacking. I’m so proud of what I have now, that the perfectionist in me needs to go back and update all of my images. Want to see? Here is my before and after

Notice the cohesiveness with my brand color(s) in the “now” section? I am in love with my graphics now and I’m so glad that I can make them in Canva, which I am obsessed with! I figured this all out with her course. Through her worksheets, I learned about my brand, my target audience, how to target them with my images, and even about stock photography and where I wanted to get my photos from. I went so much deeper into myself and my goals than I thought I was going to get with this course. I mean, I had an idea of what this course was going to offer but I didn’t truly know what I was getting into. Regardless, I loved it.

If you want to know more about this course, including all of what you are going to learn straight from Lindsey herself, you can head over to the Consistent Canva page and sign up to get more information!*
